Anelia Loubser is a photographer based in Cape Town, South Africa. After completing her studies in Visual Communication, she started working on fulfilling her life-long dream of becoming a photographer. During 2009 she began specializing in portraiture, theatre, live shows and landscape photography. Anelia, one of identical twins, sharing everything with her sister, whom she attributes to be a strong source of inspiration for her. Alienation is her first fine-art based work and have already received international recognition after her portrait series went viral in 2014.
Alienation featured in publications of The Huffington Post, Daily Mail UK, CNET US, HLN Belgium, La Repubblica Italie, The Bangkok Globe, Art Republic Singapore, Journal du Design France, Fubiz and Woman You Should Know, just to name a few. Furthermore Anelia featured in local and international magazines and newspapers namely Soura Magazine, FEEL Desain, ICA Publishing, The Times, City Press, Die Burger, Huisgenoot and You. Anelia is also known for her photo "THE MIST" (of mist rolling into Cape Town) that went viral in 2012, exceeding more than 300 000 views on the popular image sharing website - Imgur alone.
For Anelia, making art, is a personal journey. A journey of self-discovery, understanding the significance in existence and the acceptance of self. She has an acute interest in human behavior - emotions and reactions, surviving skills and coping mechanisms we develop as children and the madness and the power of the mind. The human condition in a social construct is something that fascinates and inspires her. Anelia absolutely treasures nature. It is in nature where she can fully open up her conscious mind to all her senses. Nature is an integral part of her life and work.
